General information

The privacy of our customers is a priority for us and we are committed to securing all information provided to us with appropriate measures. This policy sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.

Menevä Oy does not utilise digital recording devices in any vehicles. The subcontractors providing services to Menevä are responsible for any recording devices in Menevä branded vehicles and are responsible for informing the customer appropriately if any such devices are used in vehicles owned and operated by them.

Controller

For the purpose of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (the "GDPR"), Menevä Oy is the controller of your Personal Data that is collected from you or provided to us by you while using our services.

For what purpose do we collect information?

We collect information about you in order to provide taxi and transportation services to our customers through the use of our application or other booking channels. The purposes we use the collected information include processing your booking requests, processing your payments for those bookings and providing you with customer support. We use the information also to improve the services we provide to you and our app for example by personalising the services or making the booking process faster. The personal data is used to contact you and to provide information that you request from us, including service related messages (e.g. reminders and messages notifying you when your taxi has arrived). The data is used also to display advertising or to send marketing directly to you in accordance with the law, including ensuring that content is presented as effectively as possible for you and creating reports to assist with future marketing. Information is also used to protect the rights, property or safety of you, or others (this includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction). We use the data also to monitor metrics such as total number of visitors, traffic and demographic patterns and to carry out analysis and research on usage trends & traffic. This includes, for example, predicting demand and trends, to improve the user experience, and to enhance the safety and security of our services.

When do we collect information?

We collect information about you in the following situations:

  • When registering for or while using our customer app
  • While using the booking applications available through our website
  • When contacting our customer service. The calls to our customer service phone numbers are recorded in order to improve our customer support services.
  • While using our feedback channels i.e. feedback forms on our website

What kind of information do we collect?

Basic information

  • Name and address information
  • Phone number
  • E-mail address

Customer profile information

  • You may give us information about you by filling in forms on the App or Services Site, or by corresponding with us (for example, by e-mail). This includes personal information and other information you provide when you register to use our website, download or register the our app, book a taxi or otherwise use any of the Services, make an in-App purchase, share data via an App’s social media functions, enter a competition, promotion or survey, and when you report a problem with an App or the Services Site. The information you give us may include your name, address, e-mail address and phone number, the Device’s phone number, age, username, password and other registration information, personal description and photograph.

Information concerning the device or connection

  • Technical information, including the type of mobile device you use, a unique device identifier (for example, your Device’s IMEI number, the MAC address of the Device’s wireless network interface, or the mobile phone number used by the Device), mobile network information, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile browser you use and time zone setting
  • We use Stripe for payment, analytics, and other business services. Stripe collects identifying information about the devices that connect to its services. Stripe uses this information to operate and improve the services it provides to us, including for fraud detection. Information collected through use of services

  • Location information that you share with us using the App such as pick-up, drop-off or street addresses that you have bookmarked using the App
  • With your additional consent, location information through the use of GPS technology, Wifi, cell phone signals etc. You can withdraw your consent at any time by changing the operating system settings on your device
  • Also with additional consent, information stored on your device, including contact information, login information, photos, videos or other digital content
  • Location information related to the services we provide you i.e. taxi ride or delivery service routes
  • Recorded customer service phone calls
  • Booking reference numbers
  • Vehicle details related to bookings
  • Payment and price details related to bookings
  • Account details related to business account users
  • Log information for diagnostics

Storing of your personal data

All information you provide to us is stored on secure servers. Any payment transactions carried out by us or our chosen third-party provider of payment processing services will be encrypted using Secured Sockets Layer technology. Where We have given you (or where you have chosen) a password that enables you to access certain parts of our services, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone. Your Personal Data will be stored for as long as you use the App or Website and after you delete your account for a reasonable period.

Transfers of personal data

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (EEA). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Your Personal Data is only transferred outside the EEA where the EU Commission has decided that the third country in question ensures an adequate level of protection in line with EU data protection standards OR there are appropriate safeguards in place to protect your personal data. These staff may be engaged in the fulfilment of your request, order or reservation, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

Your rights

You have the right to know whether your Personal Data is being processed by us, how we use your personal data and your rights in relation to your personal data. You have the right to request a copy of the personal data held by us about you. We will only charge you for making such an access request where we feel your request is unjustified or excessive. You may also access your personal data by logging into your account on the App or Website and viewing your profile. You have the right to request that we amend any inaccurate personal data that we have about you. You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. You can also exercise the right at any time by contacting us using any of the contact channels.

You have the right to ask us to erase your Personal Data where:

  • it is no longer necessary to perform the contract
  • you withdraw your consent and there is no other legal basis permitting us to process your personal data
  • you object to the processing and we have no overriding legitimate grounds
  • your personal data have been unlawfully processed; or
  • it must be erased to comply with a legal obligation.

Please note that some of your personal data is required in order for our app and other services to function properly.

 You have the right to ask us to restrict processing your personal data in the following situations:

  • where you contest the accuracy of your personal data
  • where the processing is unlawful and you do not want us to delete your personal data
  • where we no longer need your personal data for the purposes of processing but you require the data in relation to a legal claim
  • where you have objected to us processing your personal data pending the verification as to whether or not our legitimate interests override your interests or in connection with legal proceedings.

When you exercise this right we may only store your personal data.

We may not further process the data unless you consent or the processing is necessary in relation to a legal claim or to protect the rights of another person or legal person or for reasons of important public interest.

Please note that it be may necessary for us to process some of your personal data in order to provide the App or Website and in certain instances where you ask us not to process your personal data you may not be able to use the App or Website.

We will inform you before the processing restriction is lifted.

You have a right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.

We may not be able to comply with this request where the processing is necessary to enter or perform our contract with you or where you explicitly consent to this. However, you are entitled to have a person from our team to review the decision so that you can query it and set out your point of view to us.

Our websites or app may, from time to time, contain links to and from the applications and websites of our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates (including, but not limited to, websites on which the App or the Services are advertised). If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites and any services that may be accessible through them have their own privacy policies and that We do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies or for any personal data that may be collected through these websites or services, such as contact and location data. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites or use these services.

Changes to privacy policy

Any changes we may make to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by SMS, by e-mail or when you next start the App or log onto one of our sites. The new terms may be displayed on-screen and you may be required to read and accept them to continue your use of the App or the Services.
